Description/Interesting Notes: A classic example of almandine garnet in muscovite from North Carolina!!! This specimen consists of a thin section of muscovite that host a large almandine garnet crystal!!! The almandine crystal exhibits an extremely compressed habit that is the result of having formed under pressure between planes of muscovite!!! This crystal is highly lustrous, GEM clear, and has exceptional, choice color!!! This specimen is UNBELIEVABLE in person!!! Simply an incredible example of this classic occurence!!! Rarely does one see almandine crystals of such size and quality in these unusual specimens!!! The crystal is surprisingly thick and has convex faces - making it appear like a gemmy button that also acts as a natural lens!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
