Description/Interesting Notes: A fantastic example of almandine in schist from New York City!!! This specimen hosts several sharp, glassy, undamaged, gemmy red crystals of almandine garnet in a schist matrix!!! The pics hardly do it justice - it is quite showy and attractive in person!!! A rare beauty indeed!!! (If one so desired, one could easily trim the schist matrix to make the large crystal on the side show on the same face as the other crystals too!!!) This specimen is from the Albert Peppis Collection and retains its original label, as well as a notecard with more detailed information on the locality and subway blast!!!
