Adamite

Chañarcillo, Copiapó Province, Atacama Region, Chile

7.5cm x 5.23cm x 4.05cm

Ex. Robert E. Jenkins II Collection No. 4215

Description/Interesting Notes:

A rare, old time example of adamite from the type locality!!! While the proustite specimens from Chanarcillo are quite famous among mineral collectors - few collectors realize that this locality is also the type locality for adamite!!! These old time Chanarcillo adamites date to the mid to late 1800's and are extremely scarce on todays market!!! This specimen consists of a dense cluster of intergrown adamite crystals that have a yellowish green color!!! There appears to be some matrix present but the specimen is largely comprised of adamite!!! The crystals are sharp and lustrous!!! This specimen is from the personal collection of Bob Jenkins and retains his original personal collection label!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY NOVEMBER 18th!!!
