Acanthite with Acanthite after Native Silver

Freiberg District, Erzgebirge, Saxony, Germany

2.64cm x 2.2cm x 2cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A unique, old time example of acanthite from this historic German locale!!! This specimen consists of a complex network of acanthite crystals that hosts several unique pseudomorphs of acanthite after native silver as well!!! The acanthite crystals are present as highly complex groups with oriened micro-faces, puncuated by scattered cubic forms - this specimen is crystalline all around!!! There are numerous complex forms that retain the form of thick, truncated wires of native silver yet have been completely replaced by acanthite!!! Upon close study one can see the complex striated features as well as smaller, curling, wire-like pseudomorphs!!! Unique old time material - WAY better than the pics show!!! Classic material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
